January SAS-B approvals hit 9,000

In January, the health regulator authorized 9,000 medicinal cannabis prescriptions, reflecting a 4% growth compared to the same month the previous year, according to the most recent data available.

Oil constituted 50% of prescriptions, while flower made up 37%. Men, who represented 62% of patients, had 42% of their prescriptions for flower and 45% for oil.


In contrast, oral solution was the prevailing dosage form for women, accounting for 60% of prescriptions, which is twice the number of dried herb prescriptions.


Over 83% of approvals were for schedule 8 medicine, consistent with prior months.


The primary conditions treated with medicinal cannabis included chronic pain (45%), anxiety (29%), and sleep disorders (9%).
